Launching the Vienna International Pride Awards 2023

Green Rock Media are ecstatic to be working with director Tony Gregory on the Vienna International Pride Awards, creating a series of films to promote the inaugural awards.

We are under no illusion that we are working on a small part of the entirety but it fits squarely with one of Green Rock’s core tenets of striving for a more equitable planet for all.

The Vienna International Pride Awards is a unique platform that recognizes and celebrates equality heroes in the LGBTIQ+ community, who are creating change. Project partners include the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and ILGA-World (the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association.

The awards are significant because they showcase, for the first time globally, the efforts of people creating real change, often at great personal risk to themselves, in the pursuit of universal LGBTIQ+ equality.   Once the Awardees have been selected, Green Rock will be working on powerful short films to tell these incredible stories.  Recounting these stories will motivate and inspire more to join the pursuit of equality, whether on the scale of the awardees or as everyday acts of inclusion.

Tony Gregory, Co-Founder Vienna International Pride Awards, described his guiding vision for the awards:

We envisage a  world where the rainbow of differences and preferences of LGBTIQ+ people are deeply and universally accepted and cherished.  Working with the teams at both Green Rock Media and Edit Cloud is always a joy. The team’s commitment to the craft and focus on delivering films above and beyond the norm will be a vital part of the project’s success.”

Kate Burns, CEO, Green Rock Media:

“Partnering with Tony is really important to Green Rock.  We are able to not only create some brilliant content but in doing so support a cause which aligns perfectly with our own values.  We look forward to telling the incredible stories of the Awardees. ”

Ben Mullins, Editor, Green Rock Media worked closely with Tony on the project

“It was inspiring to be producing content which can make a real impact and challenge people’s views. Putting something out into the world which I know will have a  positive effect is really rewarding.”

The “Why” film juxtaposes the negative experiences LGBTIQ+ people go through with an inspiring positive message of hope and change.

Ben went on to describe the creative process,

“The hardest thing about constructing the film was to get an even weighting between the negative and the hope. We needed the negative imagery to give impact but the film is a celebration of overcoming adversity so we needed more positive imagery.  Too much however, would be cloying so it was all about getting the balance just right.”

A series of films will be used in a campaign to create awareness and for the awards, with sponsors and corporate partners being an important part of the target audience.

Tony created the scripts and worked closely with Ben on the films. They were created using technology from our partner Edit Cloud, allowing Tony and Ben to collaborate fully remotely on a cloud based workflow.

More information about the Vienna International Pride Awards will be announced soon.
