Rock & Ravensbourne – pushing learning to professional levels
We have more great news to share.
Green Rock is going to be working with Ravensbourne University in London to accelerate the next generation of young creators into the content production industry.
We’re going to collaborate with talented people selected by Ravensbourne’s CreativeLab. If you haven’t heard of this before, you should take a look as it is the University’s in-house creative agency that connects industry professionals with exceptional students on real world projects. The initiative is being dubbed – “Rock & Ravensbourne” and we are so excited to be a part of it. CreativeLab is housed in the brand-new ‘Institute for Creativity and Technology’ building in Greenwich Peninsula’s Design District.
The partnership is divided into four parts including work on actual client briefs, work with our cloud-based post-production workflow solution Green Rock VCS, mentoring sessions and a recruitment scheme where we are aiming to take on one new hire from the University every six months.
We know that our clients are passionate about tapping into next-generation insights and so this is a real two-way opportunity for students to work on professional projects with us and for us to learn from this generation about what is important and how they are changing the future of production.
Thinking back on when we started out, it feels good to be able to share real world experience with students and young creatives. We can’t wait to see the amazing work they will come up with and find new ways to help each other.
Green Rock has a long-standing commitment to ‘future first’ story-making; the introduction of fresh, young talent will further strengthen the ability to tell stories designed for the future.
Simon Green, CEO and Founder at Green Rock, said: “This is an amazing opportunity for us and the students of Ravensbourne. Each learning experience should be a two-way street and while we can support and nurture great young talent, we can also learn from this generation what the issues and creative forces are that they are paying attention to. Ravensbourne is the perfect fit for our mission, vision and values as we strive to push forward with a diversity of thought in client work and look to the future generations to help shape the future of brands and content. The Rock & Ravensbourne partnership gives us a clear strategic edge and something our clients have been asking for.”
Lawrence Lartey, Creative Director, CreativeLab, commented: “We are so happy to be able to offer this opportunity to our students. It’s vital in this current climate that learners have the opportunity to get real-world experience and make contacts that will be key in shaping their future careers.”
Pippa Hogg, Head of Studio, Creative Lab, added: “Creative partnerships like Rock & Ravensbourne, with like-minded organisations both committed to the futures of the next generation of creative talent, is how we can secure a better and more inclusive future for the entire creative industry.”
Today (Thursday 4 November), Simon Green and Pippa Hogg will be in discussion with triple-Oscar winning editor, Walter Murch (who worked on The Godfather and Apocalypse Now among many other highlights) at Web Summit 2021 for a session called ‘Borderless, sustainable and democratic: Exploring the future of content’. The talk will address how the processes of content creation have radically changed. Web Summit 2021 has been called the ‘best technology conference on the planet’ and takes place in Lisbon, Portugal this year. You can find more information on the Web Summit website.
